A haiku is actually a group of "hokkus," or one 5-7-5 syllable poem. This haiku has a lot of meaning and symbolism. It's one of the few of my poems that I actually think is decent lol. Enjoy :)
I gaze at the stars-
tonight they stare back at me.
I feel ill at ease.
A sea of faces,
shining with an empty hope
of seeing daylight.
I feel the rays of
Sunlight; they pierce my skin, search
my soul for darkness.
And with each new day
I am blinded by its Light...
I cannot forget.
I breathe in deeply-
but the scent of a rose in
Spring is like poison.
Why could I not see
before, that its great Beauty
overcomes its thorn?
There is a story
tucked away in each petal;
a careful Design.
I weep for all the
roses that have died, that ne'er
had the chance to bloom.
Hello readers :) So as you may have noticed, this is my blog where I post "poetry of life." You should know a few things first, though: 1. I mainly write in free verse. I find that rhyme often constricts my thoughts- instead, I tend to focus on imagery and symbolism and use paragraph structure, rhythm, and color to further reflect my ideas. 2. I wrote most of these poems a while ago- meaning, I don't really like most of them =P But a writer has got to start somewhere! So bear with me :) 3. I'm too scared to put ALL of my poetry up.. some of it is a bit too personal. So this is simply a preview of me. Thanks for reading! LOVE, Julie
